The Mission is Ours

At La Valise, we are committed to protecting to safeguard Bacalar’s natural beauty and lead by example in ethical and sustainable tourism.

We remain dedicated to enhancing our eco conscious efforts and invite guests to join us in this mission.

GREEN BEAUTY: We prioritize eco conscious amenities, providing guests with reef safe sunscreen and after sun lotion to preserve the pristine lagoon.

ZERO SINGLE-USE PLASTIC POLICY: Single use plastic is entirely prohibited across the property, encouraging guests to embrace thoughtful reuse and responsible recycling.

LOW-IMPACT EXPLORATION: We champion sustainable exploration, offering complimentary kayaks and paddleboards instead of motorized options to keep the lagoon pristine.

SMOKE-FREE: We strictly adhere to national regulations, maintaining a completely smoke free environment across all rooms and public spaces for your health and comfort.

EVERY DROP COUNTS: Guests are invited to reuse towels and request bedsheet changes at their preference, helping us conserve precious water resources.

The Three Pillars

Built to Disappear into the Jungle

Designed by Frida Escobedo, every structure rises on stilts, never on the ground. Water continues to flow beneath, vegetation continues its course around, and the architecture is shaped to leave the site as it was found: an immersive experience in harmony with the jungle.

Environmentally Conscious

Across the property, a network of kanchés is cultivated through syntropic agriculture, and what grows here makes its way directly into our kitchen. The cuisine of the Mexican southeast is reinterpreted with elegance, honoring local ingredients through low waste practices.

The Lagoon Is the Rhythm

The care of the lagoon is permanent, as is our attention to the natural rhythms of the place. La Valise Bacalar is built around them, not against them: a way of inhabiting the tropics where every day deepens the connection with the water, the earth and the canopy.
